Fred Thieler
Paintings

Fred Thieler (1916-1999) is considered one of the most important protagonists of German post-war art. After initially figurative portraits and landscapes, he broke radically with his previous style in the 1950s and from then on experimented with gestural-dynamic color worlds, which identify him as one of the main representatives of the German Informel. Thiele's colored plasma clouds not only become a real experience space through the color reactions, but also through the painter's physical commitment. The catalog follows the consistent development of his extensive work and not only spans the arc from the paper works and graphics to the large-format canvases, but also honors the entire life's work of the artist.

Fred Thieler (1916-1999), who had originally painted figurative portraits and landscapes, made a radical break with his previous style. The catalog traces the consistent development of his oeuvre. It ranges from its works on paper and graphic art to the large-format canvases, and honors the artist's life work in a substantive manner.
